Navroz, the New Year.
Vernal Equinox falls on March 21,
When the Sun is on the equator
And when the day and the night are
equal.
Spring Equinox is the dawn of the day.
The nude trees put on garbs of foliage.
The sleeping buds are ready to unfurl.
The hibernating creatures are awake.
The brown earth clothes itself with the
grass sprouts.
Warm sun shines are in; mild winds are
on flow.
Squirrels come out to rummage for
fruits.
Rabbits leave the burrow for the meadow.
Birds chirp gleefully and shoot up
gaily.
Can man be behind, sleeping on the bed?
For all who are on the North Hemisphere,
It is new year and is celebrated
As Navroz by Parsis and Persians.
(In958-59 a Srilanka Tamil girl, named
Navroz, was studying in the final year of B Sc Zoology,
and was a person of attraction to all
males, which included me, who was in the Pre University course. Then I do not
know the meaning of Navroz)
