Self respect and ego

Ego is the seed of insecurity.

Inability to face the challenge,

And the desire being not in sync

With the capabilities to achieve

Would be the base for Ego to act on.

Self respect is also from Ego

But is entirely governed by shame.

Not to fall as the victim of shame

Or not to face any humiliation,

Is the base for Self respect to act on.

Not to give up Seeta to her Rama

Is the act of ego in Ravana.

Not to lie is the vow Harichandra

Kept against sufferings for his self respect.

The culture flourishes where self respect rules.
