It is plants that trap solar energy

And convert carbon to carbohydrate.

The source of biological energy.

It is bacteria that use oxygen

And liberate carbon from carbohydrate,

And complete the energy cycle.

The herbivores and carnivores

Are at the mercy of plants and bacteria

For their survival and evolution.
